Multi-goal training

Stop managing two training plans like you're two different athletes.

A HYROX in October, a marathon in December, a half in the spring. Most plans assume one goal and one taper. Octane's season holds every dated event you name, gives each A race its own phases, and says out loud when two sit too close to both get a taper.

The season's calendar, the week before its first block begins, with the next key session named beneath it.

The season

Each race gets its phases, cut back from race day.

Specific build, peak, taper, race, recovery — sized by the event type and your level. When the next race is close behind, its phases are compressed innermost-first, and the calendar says which blocks were compressed and why.

What the planner says

  • HYROX Miami is 14 days after Half — planned as a B race, its row unchanged.
  • Spring half is beyond the 182-day horizon and is listed, not planned.
  • CIM is a B race: raced, not tapered for.
  • Taper: sharpening, not building.
  • Race week: short and sharp, nothing that costs.

A, B and C

Which race comes first, without forgetting the next.

An A race is tapered for. A B race is raced, not tapered for — it attaches to the block it falls in. A C race is a training day with a number on. Two A races inside three weeks can't both be tapered for, so the later one is planned as a B race and the finding says so; its row is never changed.

The planner's own lines

  • “HYROX Miami is 14 days after Half — planned as a B race, its row unchanged.”
  • “CIM is a B race: raced, not tapered for.”
  • “Taper: sharpening, not building.”
  • “Race week: short and sharp, nothing that costs.”
  • “Post-race recovery: easy by design, whatever the legs say.”

The horizon

Listed, not planned.

A season is laid out over the next six months. An event past that horizon stays on your calendar and is named as beyond it — “listed, not planned” — until the season rolls forward to reach it.

What it doesn't do

There is no number for how two sports interfere.

Octane doesn't fold two goals into one interference score, and doesn't promise that a marathon block protects a HYROX. It lays the blocks out honestly, stamps its inputs on the season, and the morning decision still decides each day — the session as planned, or less.

Your plan or Octane's

Keep Runna for the running. Let Octane see the season.

A Runna plan is read as before — every session, matched to what you ran. A season is something you generate when you want Octane to lay the calendar out around the events you've named.

How the read works

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is it a training plan?

Not unless you ask for a season. Octane reads the plan you already have, from Runna's private calendar link, a coach's calendar link, or typed in. With Pro you can have Octane lay out a season around the events you name; the morning decision still only ever reduces what is on the calendar.

Will Octane move my intervals to another day?

Not on its own. When a morning asks for less, Octane says what today's session should become — shorter, easier, or a recovery day — in the plan's own units. Moving a session is yours: any Octane session can be moved, skipped or restored from the plan, and a watch that receives Octane's sessions follows. Sessions from Runna or another plan are moved in their own app.

What if I already use Runna?

Keep it. Octane isn't asking you to throw away a plan that works. Paste the calendar link and Octane reads every session, matches what you ran to what was planned, and reads the morning after — without touching the plan.

What's free, what's Pro, and what does it cost?

Free collects — connections, logging, workout numbers, the decision and its buttons, the check-in. Pro interprets — the Why, the session read, the morning after, the brief, the Stack response, the season — at $14.99/mo or $99.99/yr with a 14-day free trial. Founding is $69.99/yr.
