Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Octane, a training-nutrition app operated by CareyOS. Using Octane means you accept them.
1. Octane is not medical advice
This is the most important term here.
Octane is a general wellness and fitness product. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and nothing it shows you is medical advice.
- Calorie and macro targets are estimates derived from formulas and from what you tell us. They are a starting point, not a prescription.
- Training recommendations only ever suggest doing less. Octane never tells you to train harder, and it cannot see an injury, an illness or anything you have not logged.
- Recovery and readiness figures are derived from consumer wearables, not clinical instruments, and are frequently based on incomplete data. Octane tells you when a figure is missing rather than guessing.
- If you record supplements, medications or other compounds, Octane records what you tell it. It does not calculate, convert, titrate or recommend any dose, ever, and its AI features are prevented from doing so. Dosing is between you and your prescriber.
- Analysis of how your body responded is descriptive, not causal. It is observational data from one person with no control and no blinding. Octane shows you the reasons a comparison may mean nothing alongside the comparison itself.
Talk to a doctor before changing your diet, training, supplements or medication — and immediately if you feel unwell. Do not delay seeking medical advice because of something an app said.
2. Who may use it
You must be at least 16 and able to enter a contract. One account is for one person; do not share your login.
3. Your account
Keep your credentials secure and tell us promptly at privacy@careyos.com if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for activity under your account.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Octane is a paid subscription with a free trial. There is no free tier.
- Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and renew automatically until cancelled.
- Cancel through Apple — Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies, not by us.
- Prices may change. We will tell you before a change affects a renewal.
- If your subscription lapses, paid features stop. Your data is not deleted, and logging what you eat and what you take continues to work.
5. What you may not do
- Use Octane for anything unlawful, or to harm anyone.
- Resell it, or share your access with people who have not paid.
- Reverse-engineer it, scrape it, or attack the service.
- Upload content you have no right to upload.
- Rely on it as a substitute for professional medical care.
6. Your content
What you log stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the product for you: to store it, display it back to you, compute from it, and — for the features you have enabled — send the necessary context to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy.
7. AI features
Octane uses AI to estimate macros from photos and descriptions, to write meal plans, and to write coaching text.
- Output can be wrong. Estimates are editable for that reason, and you should check them.
- Figures in AI-written text are computed by Octane, not by the model.
- Availability and limits may change, and fair-use limits apply to prevent one account consuming the service.
8. Connected services
Connecting Apple Health, Garmin or an Oura ring is optional and revocable. Those services are operated by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy or conduct, and a change on their side may break or end a feature.
9. Changes to the service
We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something you depend on, or change these terms materially, we will tell you.
10. Ending it
You may stop and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, or where we must for legal or safety reasons. Sections 1, 11 and 12 survive.
11. Disclaimers
Octane is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow this, in which case it applies to the extent permitted.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, CareyOS is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where your local consumer law gives you rights that cannot be overridden by contract, those rights still apply.
